FN Herstal SCAR-16 Rental Gun
Shelley Sargent
West Coast Armory's rental SCAR-16 Lite has seen 20,000 rounds of hard use with few stoppages and no breakages.
The FN Herstal Special Forces Combat Assault Rifle, or SCAR, was designed in 2004 to satisfy the requirement the United State Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Available as both the SCAR Light (SCAR-L) in 5.56x45mm NATO and the SCAR Heavy (SCAR-H) in 7.62x51mm NATO the SCAR was first issued to the 75th Ranger Regiment in 2007 and has remained in SOCOM’s use since.
The FN SCAR has gained much popularity in the civilian marketplace and is featured in a number of movies, including the recent hit Inception where it is featured with an ACOG scope such as the one found on West Coast Armory’s rental SCAR-L. The FN SCAR is also popular for its appearance in video games such as Counter Strike, Ghost Recon, Battlefield 2 and the recent release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
West Coast Armory’s rental SCAR-L has seen a lot of use and a lot of abuse. Despite minimal cleaning and the general range abuse that any rental gun endures the FN Herstal SCAR has shot over 20,000 rounds with no breakages and few stoppages. A favorite among customers (and staff), the rental SCAR at West Coast Armory has proven durable and reliable despite hard use.
The SCAR has also demonstrated itself to be comfortable and enjoyable to shoot for patrons of different ages, sizes and skill levels. The loud muzzle break makes the gun sound intimidating on the range but keeps recoil to a minimum, making the gun extremely pleasant to shoot. Everyone who shoots the SCAR-L comes back with a smile on their face.
The West Coast Armory rental SCAR is equipped with a Trijicon ACOG and fore-grip.
